BRYTHONIAID MALE VOICE CHOIR
www.corybrythoniaid.com

Côr y Brythoniaid, the larger of Blaenau Ffestiniog's two male voice choirs, was formed in 1964 by a young local man - Meirion Jones - in response to a growing interest within the area for a choir that could compete with the best that our country had to offer. Over the years, the choir has had many varied highlights. They have performed in the most celebrated of venues at home and abroad and have shared concert platforms with the likes of established operatic singers such as Bryn Terfel, Mary Lloyd Davies, Gwyn Hughes Jones and Rhys Meirion. In all, Côr y Brythoniaid has recorded 9 LP records, one of which was acclaimed with a prestigious Golden Disc Award.

RHUTHUN AND DISTRICT CHOIR
The choir was formed originally as a youth choir in 1981 to compete in the Urdd Eisteddfod. The choir has won the main competition for large mixed choirs at the National Eisteddfod of Wales six times, and achieved the third prize for mixed choirs at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in 1996. There have been many television and radio appearances over the years and the choir has released six records and CD's.
The choir's repertoire is very varied. One of the high points in the choir's history was performing, and then recording on CD, Robat Arwyn's commission work at the National Eisteddfod 2001 - Atgofo'r Sêr (Memory of Stars) - with world renowned baritone Bryn Terfel and soprano Fflur Wyn.
In 2003 the choir was invited to form a massed choir with Côr Eifionydd and the Sirenian Singers for a television recording of Handel's Messiah in Welsh for S4C, with soloists Bryn Terfel, Eirian James, Shan Cothi, and tenor Rhys Meirion, a former member of the choir who is now a soloist with English National Opera. Rhys Meirion also invited the choir to sing 3 songs with him for his CD which was released in March 2004. During 2006, aspart of the 25 year celebrations, the choir recorded Er Hwylio'r Haul, a work by Robat Arwyn commemorating Llywelyn the last Prince of Wales which was commissioned for the Eryri National Eisteddfod in 2005.
Morfydd Vaughan Evans is the founder and conductor of the choir. As a tribute to her tireless work with the Choir and with generations of young people in Ruthin, Morfydd was honoured with the T.H.Parry-Williams Medal at the National Eisteddfod in 2005. The accompanist, Robat Arwyn, is also the composer of many of the choir's songs and works.

ANNETTE BRYN PARRI
Annette was born in Deiniolen in Gwynedd. Annette graduated at the Royal Northern College of Music in 1984 and later joined the Music Department of the University of Wales, Bangor as a piano tutor to students following B.A. and B.Mus. degree courses. Annette has regularly accompanied many of Wales's top opera stars – Bryn Terfel, Rebecca Evans, Jason Howard to name but a few - both at home and abroad. Annette has accompanied at the Albert Hall, London on several occasions and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir George Solti, Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana have been amongst her private audiences.
She has worked regularly with Welsh National Opera.
Annette made her debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2005 and this is now a regular engagement in her busy diary. She recently launched her second solo album – Un Mondo a Parte.

DYLAN CERNYW
Dylan was educated at Creuddyn School, Llandudno. He received tuition by many recognised Harp tutors in Wales - Gwennant Pyrs, Dafydd Huw and Robin James Jones. Dylan has won in the National Eisteddfod in 1989, 1991 and 1994, and was also a winner in the Cerdd Dant Festival in 1992. He is resident harpist for Bodnant Gardens, North Wales and Plas Tan y Bwlch, Maentwrog. A well known concert entertainer in Wales and abroad, he has accompanied and shared platforms with Bryn Terfel, Eirian James, Shan Cothi, Gwyn Hughes Jones, Rhys Meirion, Katherine Jenkins, John Eifion, and Annette Bryn Parri. He made his debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2005 and will be returning again this year.
Dylan's favourites are light music and, of course, Cerdd Dant. In his spare time, Dylan is a keen member of "Cor Glanaethwy" from Bangor where he accompanies the choir on harp and sings with them. He has released 3 CD's with the record company Sain.
Together, Dylan and Annette are two halves of the popular Piano/Harp Duo Piantel. They regularly perform together and have recently released an album of solos and duets which can be purchased from their agent www.cantabileartistsagency.co.uk .

John Eifion
John Eifion's musical apprenticeship began many years ago when as a child, he, his three sisters and his parents performed on concert platforms across North Wales. Since those early days, he has enjoyed success on several occasions at both local and national level - winning the open Tenor solo competition at the National Eisteddfod five times. The highlight of his career so far was winning the David Ellis Memorial Prize - the Blue Riband for vocal soloists - at the 1999 National Eisteddfod on Anglesey. As a result, his services as a guest soloist are sought throughout Wales and beyond. He has already released his first CD, and in April 2001 he became the new conductor of the Brythoniaid Male Voice Choir. Under his guidance the choir won the chief Male Voice Competition at the National Eisteddfod in 2002.

JOHN PIERCE
Winner in 2006 of the Manchester Welsh Society Prize for Singing at the RNCM, John was born in 1983 and brought up in Holywell, North Wales. His early ambition to be a pianist was overtaken by his love of singing at the age of 16 and in 2002 he entered the College to study with Jeffery Lawton.
In 1999, John recorded the world premiere of Karl Jenkins' Dewi Sant at Pembroke Castle with his local county choir, televised on BBC2 Wales in January 2000 and later performed in St David's Hall, Cardiff in March 2000. Then in June 2000, John joined The National Youth Choir of Wales with whom he performed in many cathedrals all over Wales. John has also taken part in many productions of the RNCM as chorus member and in many cameo roles, most recently as Adolfo in La Rondine (Puccini) and Jake in The Threepenny Opera (Weil). In November 2006, John took part in Mozart's Requiem at Wilmslow.

John enjoys using his talent to raise money for local charities and the National Eisteddfod, which John is hoping to participate in this year in his home county of Flint.
